Union Jack Exhibition at Gwangju Design Biennale, South Korea

The 5th Gwangju Design Biennale has chosen the UK as the guest collaborative country for 2013. This year's Biennale theme ‘Anything, Something’ aims to understand and interpret the often subtle contexts and habits in our daily communication that can be integral to innovative design, adding real value by turning anything into something.

The Biennale will show ‘Union Jack; pop culture, design and everyday’ exhibition as a highlight event alongside the Design Museum’s ‘Designed to Win’ exhibition and a collaborative project between the Royal College of Art and Gwangju city’s local university.

The Union Jack Exhibition explores how the British flag has been used by designers over the years; in pop culture, graphics, fashion, home interior, automotive etc.. 

Brintons was chosen amongst other iconic British brands and designers such as Lulu Guiness, Hunter and Mini, to celebrate Britishness; a limited edition Union Jack inspired rug was the perfect choice for the exhibition.

This beautiful axminster rug, woven using our own 80% wool 20% nylon yarn in colours synonymous with the iconic Union Jack flag is a showcase of some of Brintons best patterned axminster designs. 

The GREAT Britain campaign is the UK Government’s most ambitious international marketing campaign ever and showcases the very best of what Britain has to offer in order to encourage the world to visit, study and do business with the UK. It supports the Prime Minister’s ‘Global Race For Growth’ and Olympic Legacy programme.
